The appartement Charles de Beistegui is a small roof-top addition to an existing nineteenth century building on the Champs-Elysées in Paris, constructed in 1929 -1931. It was built for the wealthy film-maker client Charles de Beistegui as a modern party penthouse.

Light

Le Corbusier conceived different rooflights for different purposes. While some were designed with the simple purpose of drawing light into the heart of the building, others were more dramatic, enlisted to frame views of the sky or borrow a shaft of light from the sun.
At the Bestegui apartment, for example, a panel of glass was set into the roof on the same level as the lawn.Glass paving stone, as such it must have contributed to the unnerving feeling of an already surreal design.

Floor surface

The grass surfaces of the roof garden were employed into the top roof which were installed a fireplace and some furniture that made people have the illusion of space.

Exterior Salon

He designed a private salon with a small, narrow entrance. Four 65-70 feet walls compose the outdoor square space. He installed a fireplace and furniture in the area and putted grass on the floor which looks like interior space but it actually is an exterior open space. The room is full of the features in Surrealism.
